Anchorage Digital Enables Institutional Solana Staking with Marinade Finance

TL;DR: Institutions can now access optimized SOL staking through Marinade Finance directly within Anchorage Digital’s platform. Clients can improve yield and validator diversification while maintaining qualified custody and full control of their assets.

Anchorage Digital now supports institutional staking with Marinade Finance, the leading decentralized staking protocol on Solana.

With this integration, clients can stake SOL through Marinade directly within Anchorage Digital’s platform and Porto, Anchorage Digital’s self-custody wallet, without relying on external applications or relinquishing control of their assets.

For the first time, institutions can access Marinade’s automated staking strategies, designed to optimize yield and distribute stake across a diverse set of validators, while maintaining assets in qualified custody with Anchorage Digital Bank N.A., the first federally chartered crypto bank in the U.S. approved to offer staking.

Optimized staking, without giving up control

Staking on Solana has traditionally required institutions to make tradeoffs between yield, operational complexity, and control.

Selecting and managing validators can be resource-intensive, and delegating stake across a broad set of validators can introduce additional operational complexity

Marinade addresses these challenges by automatically distributing stake across a broad set of high-quality validators, spanning hundreds of operators in its native strategy, as well as a curated set of ~30 KYC-verified validators in Marinade Select, improving both performance and decentralization. Through this integration, Anchorage Digital clients can access these benefits while retaining full custody of their assets.

This is made possible via an onchain mechanism that separates staking authority from withdrawal authority, allowing clients to delegate staking operations to Marinade while Anchorage Digital maintains custody and control of the underlying assets.

“Anchorage Digital is committed to providing institutions with secure, flexible ways to participate in onchain networks. By integrating Marinade, we’re expanding access to optimized Solana staking strategies—while maintaining the custody, control, and regulatory standards institutions require.”– Nathan McCauley, Co-Founder and CEO, Anchorage Digital

Flexible staking options for institutional needs

Clients can choose between two Marinade strategies, depending on their objectives:

  • Marinade Select: A compliance-focused staking strategy that utilizes a curated set of KYC-verified validators, designed for institutions with specific regulatory or risk requirements, including ETF issuers and regulated financial products.
  • Marinade Max Yield: An automated strategy that dynamically allocates stake to optimize yield across Marinade’s validator set.

“Marinade was built to make staking more efficient and decentralized. Bringing Marinade to Anchorage Digital allows institutions to access these benefits within a trusted, regulated environment—helping scale participation across the Solana network.” – Michael Repetný, Co-Founder and CEO of Marinade Labs

Both options are available directly within Anchorage Digital’s platform, enabling seamless participation in Solana staking without additional integrations or workflows.

A growing suite of institutional staking solutions

This integration adds to Anchorage Digital’s existing staking capabilities, providing institutions with multiple ways to deploy capital across digital assets while maintaining security, compliance, and operational simplicity.
