Anchorage Digital Adds Custody Support for Tempo, the Layer 1 Built for Stablecoin Finance

TL;DR: Institutional clients can now custody Tempo-native assets, including OUSD, at Anchorage Digital Bank, N.A.

Anchorage Digital Bank now supports Tempo, a layer-1 blockchain purpose-built for stablecoin and tokenization use cases. Institutional clients can now hold Tempo-native assets with Anchorage Digital Bank, America's first federally regulated crypto bank.

As stablecoins and tokenized assets continue to proliferate, networks built specifically for the assets and the use cases they enable are emerging to meet the demand. For institutions, the question is not whether those networks work. It is whether assets on them can be held under the standards their risk, audit, and compliance teams require.

What's newly available

Anchorage Digital Bank clients can now custody the following assets on Tempo:

  • OUSD: Open Standard’s US dollar stablecoin, issued natively on Tempo
  • USDT0: Tether’s omnichain US dollar stablecoin variant
  • USDC.e: A US dollar stablecoin bridged on Tempo
  • pathUSD:  a US dollar stablecoin used as the network's asset for paying transaction fees

Support covers the full custody lifecycle on Tempo, including address generation, deposits, and withdrawals. It is delivered through the same infrastructure institutions already use for the rest of their Anchorage Digital Bank holdings: segregated custody accounts at a federally chartered bank, with policy-based controls and no change to existing operational workflows.

Building for what comes next on Tempo

Anchorage Digital Bank will also implement support for TIP-20, Tempo's native token standard, rather than supporting assets one at a time. As new TIP-20 tokens launch on Tempo, Anchorage Digital Bank can bring them into custody on a significantly shortened timeline.

That matters for a network designed around stablecoins and tokenized assets. Issuers building on Tempo gain a path to institutional custody from the start, and allocators can evaluate new Tempo assets on their merits instead of waiting on custody support to catch up.

"Stablecoin networks are being built for institutional scale, and institutions need a custodian that can meet them there. Supporting Tempo means clients can hold Tempo-native assets at a federally chartered bank, under the same controls they apply to the rest of their portfolio." —Nathan McCauley, CEO and Co-Founder, Anchorage Digital

Tempo and its stablecoin stack

Tempo is a payments-first layer-1 blockchain, launched in March 2026 and incubated by Stripe and Paradigm, It is designed for stablecoin transactions at scale, with sub-second deterministic finality, low and predictable fees paid directly in stablecoins rather than a volatile native token, and TIP-20, a token standard built for stablecoins. On the Anchorage Digital platform, network fees are currently paid in pathUSD; clients should maintain a pathUSD balance to transact. Support for additional fee assets may be added over time.

"As more institutions use Tempo to move stablecoins at scale, Anchorage Digital's support gives them a custody option inside a federally chartered bank, within the compliance requirements they already operate under. With this integration, issuers can have an institutional-grade custody path for new stablecoins as soon as they go live on the network." —Dan Romero, Chief Business Officer, Tempo
