Anchorage Digital Becomes the Custody Layer for the US-Mexico Stablecoin Corridor Through Expanded Bitso Partnership

TL;DR: MXNB, the Mexican peso stablecoin, is now custodied by Anchorage Digital Bank, N.A. across six blockchains; USDPT and USAT are now live on Bitso’s platform.
Anchorage Digital, home to America’s first federally chartered crypto bank, today announced an expansion of its partnership with Bitso, Latin America's leading digital financial services group, that places Anchorage Digital Bank’s custody beneath both sides of the US-Mexico stablecoin corridor. MXNB, the Mexican peso stablecoin, is now custodied by Anchorage Digital Bank across six blockchains: Arbitrum, Base, Ethereum, Polygon, Avalanche, and Arc. At the same time, Bitso has listed USDPT and USAT, the US dollar stablecoins of Western Union and Tether, both issued and custodied by Anchorage Digital Bank.
The US-Mexico remittance corridor is one of the largest cross-border payment flows in the world, moving tens of billions of dollars each year. Today, 15% of this volume already flows through Bitso's infrastructure, while much of the rest still travels over correspondent banking, wire transfers, and cash pickup networks that are slow, costly, and hard to trace. Stablecoins are the first real infrastructure change this corridor has seen in decades, and they are bringing it onchain, where money moves in seconds, settles around the clock, and can be traced end to end. That shift depends on custody that is regulated, secure, and available wherever liquidity sits.
Securing the peso side
With MXNB live across six chains under Anchorage Digital Bank’s custody, Anchorage clients can securely store and access the peso stablecoin to however its clients and liquidity needs dictate. Support across Arbitrum, Base, Ethereum, Polygon, Avalanche, and Arc means a single custody relationship covers every network where MXNB trades and settles.
"The US-Mexico corridor is where stablecoins stop being a thesis and start moving real money at scale. By custodying MXNB across six chains and standing behind USDPT and USAT on Bitso, we are the institutional custody layer on both sides of that flow. Every issuer and bank looking at this corridor now has a reason to start with us, because we are already where the volume is." —Nathan McCauley, CEO and Co-Founder, Anchorage Digital
Securing the dollar side
The listing of USDPT and USAT on Bitso brings two of the most recognized names in cross-border money movement and stablecoin issuance, Western Union and Tether, onto the same leading Latin American digital asset platform as MXNB. Bitso users in Mexico can now buy and sell USDPT with pesos directly in the Bitso app, and Western Union agents with Bitso Business accounts can convert between USDPT and other supported currencies. Dollar and peso stablecoins now sit side by side on Bitso as well as on Anchorage.
“Trust is paramount for demanding clients looking to move dollars and pesos onchain. With GENIUS-compliant stablecoins USDPT and USAT now supported on Bitso's platform and Anchorage Digital Bank custodying MXNB, clients can access the full dollar-peso corridor fully onchain, powered by Mexico's leading digital asset company and backed by a federally chartered bank." — Ben Reid, Head of Stablecoin, Bitso
Infrastructure for the corridor
Together, these launches make Anchorage Digital Bank the custody infrastructure the US-Mexico stablecoin corridor runs on. Issuers, banks, and payment companies entering the corridor can now connect to regulated custody that already sits where the volume is, on both ends of the flow and across the chains that matter.
